Post is work in progress.
For this project, I wanted to create a website to help myself and people better navigate the NYC subway system.
For this unit, our goal will be to work with and explore forms that are uniquely digital, namely: hypermedia. This term is used to describe media that are actually comprised of many other media formats, and that use hyperlinks to create connections between objects. The main example of this is the World Wide Web, although there are others (HyperCard, interactive CD–ROMs).
For this project, you will create a small website, hand–coded from scratch using basic HTML and CSS. We will explore the idea of the link: a way to create a jump from a bit of text or image to another file. How does the link break temporality in a way and create new temporalities in which the user has more control? You will also create a link from your site to at least one other student’s site, and we will make a network diagram to make sure that we have put together one connected network of sites.
