From the class Build Your Own Factory · Spring 2022
On Febuary 22nd 2022 we spent the day as a class creating the P9L Chair designed by Alejandro Palandjoglou. We spent the day doing this in an effort to learn about both CNC and job-shop style manufacturing. We first watched the machine cut the programed tool-path into the sheet of plywood that Dave Marin, the professor, supplied. Once the cutting job was complete we took the sheet which still had the parts attached with small tabs as to prevent them from moving during the cutting process. In the wood shop we created four job-shop stations. The first cut through the tabs to remove the parts from the sheet. The second sanded away the remaining material left over from the tabs to create a flush edge. The third rounded all of the edges of the parts. The fourth assembeled the parts into the whole chair. If you would like to build this chair yourself Alejandro Palandjoglou has provided lovely instruction which you could follow here.
